At The Foot Hub (Podiatry and Healthcare) we use laser therapy to treat a wide spectrum of complaints from verrucae, warts, fungal nails and musculoskeletal pain.
How does Laser Therapy work?
Laser therapy provides a non-drug alternative for the management of chronic and acute pain.
MLS Class 4 laser therapy can be used to reduce pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal disorders and injuries and joint pain.
Patients will often see an improvement in the treatment area from the first session. In conditions where muscle spasm and contracture is present, your patient will feel the pain relief instantly, enabling you to give manual treatments more easily.
Laser treatment has many indications:
- Muscle spasm and pain – feel the muscle spasm relax and pain decrease during the first treatment
- Tissue oedema – often reduces during the first treatment
- Inflammation – will start to decrease after the first treatment, reducing inflammatory mediators and tissue damage
- Wound healing – soft tissue repair will be quicker and stronger

History
Your practitioner will take a full medical, medication & lifestyle history if you have never visited the clinic before, or review it if you have. All your information is taken in a private room and stored on our secure database for your privacy & security.
Assessment
Before any treatment, your practitioner will undertake a visual and sometimes physical examination of your condition and fully explain the treatment plan they will follow to achieve the best outcome in the minimum amount of treatments.
Treatment
Once you and our practitioner are happy with the treatment plan, you will be given protective glasses to wear during the treatment. Laser treatment is non-invasive and the typical treatment is less than ten minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

What are your laser treatment fees?
We aim to provide professional, affordable foot care at all times. Our treatment fees therefore reflect the high standard of care we provide.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions 4 to 6 treatments may be sufficient. Those of a more chronic nature may require 6 to 12 (or more) treatments. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain.
We frequently combine laser therapy with other treatments. Using extra corporeal shockwave therapy alongside laser has produced very positive results in our clinical experience.
We will often incorporate exercise and rehabilitation programs as part of your overall therapy. Compliance with your treatment plan will only enhance your recovery.
Are there any side effects or associated risks?
During more than twenty years of use by healthcare providers all over the world, very few side effects have ever been reported. Occasionally some old injuries or pain syndromes may feel aggravated for a few days following treatment, as the healing response is more active after treatment.
There are only a very small number of precautions, for example, laser is never applied to or near the thyroid gland and eye protection must always be worn by anyone in the laser treatment area during treatment.
